A collection of elements that honor the deceased, combining pre-Hispanic and Catholic traditions to create a festive space where the living and the dead coexist. The most common elements include marigolds, pan de muerto (bread of the dead), sugar skulls, candles, papel picado (cut paper decorations), and offerings of the deceased's favorite food and drink, as well as water to quench their thirst and salt for purification.
