Wildlife photography is a genre of photography which documents animals in their natural habitat. Everyone has a small spot in their heart for animals, so it’s no surprise wildlife imagery is greatly loved by many.

Feeling the love – Andrey Gudkov

There’s a lot of love amongst wildlife. Asian otters have very large families of up to 15 animals, orangutans share the most loving relationship between mother and young, and a mother panda will devote two years to single-handedly raising her baby.

And let’s not forget that most penguins are monogamous. Now if that’s not love, then I don’t know what is. Andrey Gudkov’s collection captures the beautiful relationships animals have in the wild.

Underwater creatures – Andreas Müller

Thanks to William Thompson who took the first underwater photo in 1856, we were able to see some of the creatures that live in the deep blue. It’s estimated that there are between 1.4 to 1.6 million marine species on earth, and photographer Andrea Muller has captured some of the creatures that swim in the oceans.

17�Թ����� is also home to many illustrators and artists, Volodymyr Burdiak being one of them. He also documents wildlife, but in the form of art. Volodymyr has produced beautiful water paintings of various animals in the wild.

Animals on the watch list

The impact of global warming on animals, poaching and loss of habitat has been a hot topic for a while, but recently more pressure is being put on the government to protect wildlife.

This collection features animals which are classed as endangered, vulnerable, or threatened. Hopefully with leadership, the future of these animals will improve.

Animals in action

Animals all move at different paces with a cheetah being able to run up to 70 miles per hour, while it takes a snail 33 hours to get one mile. No matter how fast – or slow – they move, photographers often try to capture them in action. Animals captured in action result in great imagery.

In the deep blue – Blue Planet Archive

Since 1985, Blue Planet Archive have curated an enormous amount of land animal imagery, as well as an impressive marine wildlife collection. Scientists estimate that in the deep blue. These images showcase some of the marine life which has been discovered deep in our oceans.

Alaska – Tim Plowden

Tim Plowden is an 17�Թ����� contributor who has focused on various wildlife projects with topics of environmental importance to inspire change. Tim spent one month in Alaska to explore its remote forests, glaciers and mountains.
