Use the most on-trend images for your business and make your collateral work even harder for your brand!
We analysed thousands of images bought by our customers over recent months to identify the most prominent trends.
As we move into 2017 we’re seeing a shift in the types of business images that are being used across social channels, on websites, blog posts and in advertisements. People are moving away from old-style corporate shots and 9 to 5 office environments, towards more contemporary, casual imagery, outdoor working spaces and photos that show a positive attitude to gender equality.
Read about the emerging themes below to find out how you can stay on trend with your image choices.
Trend 1 – Natural and unstaged images
Business imagery is taking on a more natural appearance, with ‘of-the-moment’ images that capture colleagues mid-conversation, interacting in a meeting or absorbed in their work. These natural images replace the more staged images that have so long been associated with stock – we’re finally getting to see a fresh approach to business imagery that really reflects the workplace of today.

Trend 2 – Gender equality
Although this one’s a particularly prominent trend across the US, the gender-equal image has a global presence, with more and more companies trying to promote their support of equality in the workplace. We’re seeing an increasing number of people making use of images that show both men and women in a range of work environments, as well as embracing the concept of women in power positions.

Trend 3 – Contemporary offices and outdoor working spaces
We’re seeing changes in the way offices are set up, especially in the creative industries, with more open-plan office layouts, creative spaces for ideas sessions and vibrant meeting rooms to encourage creativity. We’re also getting more flexible with where we work and where meetings are held – technology advances have meant that people can work from just about anywhere providing there’s an internet connection and phone signal. From restaurants and coffee shops to home-working, the phrase ‘I’m at work’ is no longer constrained to the office.
