To spruce up a website
Adding the right imagery to your website can transform the layout of the page, adding professionalism and making the page more engaging. Don’t just add an image because it’ll fill a space and make the page look less bare, but instead, add an image that relates to the topic on the page or use images of real people as they’re easy to relate to. No matter what image you choose, using a stock image library like 17³Ô¹ÏÔÚÏß will mean you have a high resolution image and all the right permissions to use it on your site.
For educational purposes
Whether it’s in an educational text or a presentation for your students, images are a valuable asset when it comes to helping people learn. They’re eye-catching, encourage people to stay engaged and are a great visual aid to demonstrate the topic that’s being covered.

To present information
Ever heard the phrase ‘a picture paints a thousand words’? Using an image as a way to present information can be a great alternative to just text. There’s been plenty of research – like this article from – that shows our brains process visuals faster than text, which makes sense since 90% of information taken in by the brain is visual! () So whether you create an infographic, a flow diagram or use a stock photo to illustrate the point you’re making, images can be a really great way of helping your audience take in the information.
In advertising
Whether you’ve taken a quarter page in a magazine or a whole billboard to advertise on, using images is a fantastic way of displaying the product or service you’re promoting in an eye-catching and attractive way. A couple of things to consider when choosing images for your advertising are:
- Does the image match the messaging? – If you’ve got accompanying text on the advert, make sure the image you use reflects the same tone as the text. For example, if your message is promoting how happy customers will be with your product, the image you use needs to give off a happy, positive tone.
- Image content – if you’re using an image to display your product or service, make sure it’s representative of the actual product. Don’t over-promise or use an image that’ll make the audience think they’re getting something different to what you actually offer.
- Image size – the size of the image you use in a magazine will need to be different to that of the image in a billboard, so you’ll need to make sure you pick the right file size before you buy.
Our new file sizes infographic is a great guide to image sizes.
For personal use
This is one of our most popular image uses and people buy images under our personal use license for a wide range of projects. Popular uses include personal greetings cards, to print and put in a frame in their house, and even getting the image printed on the side of a mug to give as a gift. Artists also use the personal use license when they’re buying an image for artistic reference – so there’s plenty of great ways to benefit from this license. Learn more about our personal use license in our blog!
