For most of us, August means a chance to soak up the last of the sun and wind down in the last few weeks of the summer season. But in the magazine world, August marks the beginning of…Christmas! Yes, for many magazines, now is the time that they start their search for all of their Christmas content and imagery. In this blog, we take a look at the types of images some of our magazine clients look for to perfect their winter editions.
Are you responsible for picking the images for a magazine or publication? Let us know in the comments what the ideal winter image looks like for you.
1. A cosy setting
Some of the most popular imagery in the winter season shows a cosy, warm home that contrasts to the cold weather outside. Where better to be on a snowy day than relaxing near the fire?

2. Traditional Christmas dinner
Our UK clients love nothing more than a picture of the dinner table set for the traditional Christmas dinner. Christmas crackers, empty wine glasses and untouched place settings show the calm before the whole family arrives!

3. Wintry landscapes in the countryside
Year on year, beautiful images of the countryside covered by a blanket of snow never fail to make the pages of our clients’ magazines.

4. Families decorating the tree
One of the most treasured memories so many families have at Christmas is decorating the tree together. The key is to take natural-looking shots that really capture the happiness of the family whilst they’re decorating.

5. Delicious food
In the winter season, one of the most comforting things that get us through those bitter cold days is, of course, food. Whether it’s a lovely bowl of soup or hot glass of mulled wine, our magazine clients love to share the things that give us that warming feeling.
