Discover 7 of the UK’s lesser-known festivals as we get set for a music-filled summer here in the UK.
Festival season is upon us, and I thought a nice way to round up would be to check out some of the festivals summer has in store. I’ve picked out some brilliantly British festivals to share and (hopefully) introduce you to…
The weekend of 1st June – 3rd June will see Cheltenham Race Course come to life as families and festival-goers come together for this year’s Wychwood Festival. There’s a whole host of performances across Wychwood’s 6 stages, featuring The Gipsy Kings and Feeder to name just a couple. Plus, there’s a whole host of activities to get involved in, from yoga and meditation to family fun with Dick & Dom!

Cornbury Music Festival takes place in the beautiful Oxfordshire village of Great Tew. Unsurprisingly, this Cotswolds-based festival is a very much ‘English affair’ that welcomes all ages! This year’s festival takes place from 13th – 15th July, with the line-up featuring legendary talents like UB40 and Alanis Morissette.

From 13th – 15th July, the Ribble Valley in Lancashire will play host once again to Beat-Herder Festival. Known for the creativity of its handmade site as well as it’s heated swimming pool, Beat-Herder caters for a whole range of music tastes. This year’s line-up features everything from High Contrast to S Club 3 – unmissable in my book!

If house, urban or techno music is your thing, Eastern Electrics is the festival for you! From 4th – 5th August you’ll be treated to non-stop music from artists like Jamie Jones, David Rodigan and Wookie. The festival takes place at London’s Morden Park and is one of the more affordable festivals around!

This is a music festival with a difference! From 8th – 12th August this action-packed festival will take place in Newquay. To keep you entertained at all times, the festival offers a whole range of activities including BMXing and surfing on top of the music line-up! Headliners this year include George Ezra, Catfish and the Bottlemen and The Chemical Brothers.

On 26th – 29th July, Charlton Park will see the return of this cultural exploration of music, arts and dance. This child-friendly festival features loads of great activities from live music, singing and dancing to a relaxing arboretum, kids’ yoga and even a spa! The line-up for 2018 includes artists from a whopping 89 countries, so it really is living up to its name.

This small festival in the Welsh village of Portmeirion is one of the UK’s festival treasures. It’s more than just a music festival; it’s a festival of arts and culture featuring film-screenings, poetry and stand-up comedy on top of the music! Does this sound like it’s right up your street? Then make sure you’re there from 6th – 9th September!
