17³Ô¹ÏÔÚÏß Content Pictures of the Week #5

Welcome to our fifth Pictures of the Week blog, highlighting some of our favourite submissions from the last 7 days. As always, it has been a tough job but we’re super happy with the final five we’ve chosen. They showcase the encyclopaedic nature of the 17³Ô¹ÏÔÚÏß collection in all its glory, from colourful grapefruits to grungy tattoos…

Why we think this is great: We love the playful, bright duotones in this image. Duotones are a current trend within the world of stock photography, check out this lightbox for further inspiration.

Why we think this is great: If you’re based in the UK then you will have heard about or felt the effects of  The Beast from the East or Storm Emma this past week, and if you haven’t where have you been? Our news team have been snowed under with the number of weather pics coming through to the Live News Feed which is fantastic. But with so many weather shots to compete with, how can you ensure yours stands out from the crowd? 17³Ô¹ÏÔÚÏß contributor Rich Dyson’s image is a perfect example of how a classic weather shot can be taken to the next level. Incorporating a comedic element into a photograph can give it character and is just the type of thing a photo editor will be looking for when wading through a mountain of images.

Why we think this is great: As we’ve mentioned in previous Pictures of the Week blogs, images taken from alternative perspectives are trending at the moment. One specific perspective in high demand is images taken from directly above, and it’s one of our current . The colours and composition work together so well in the image making it a great example of the type of imagery we’d love to see more of.

Why we think this is great: Images with a muted colour pallet are a continuing trend in stock photography and looking at this photograph, we can see why. The quiet shades in this image give what would typically be a bright, exciting wildlife photograph a calm, sophisticated serenity which sets it apart from similar images.

Why we think this is great: We love this image as it ticks so many trend boxes it’s hard to keep count. Like the rest of the stock universe we’re regularly talking about the importance of authenticity in lifestyle imagery, but this photograph also taps into the need for raw, documentary style imagery which is also a continuing trend. Not to mention the alternative perspective the photographer used to get the shot which all in all makes this a winning snap for us.

If 5 images isn’t enough, you can view more wonderful submissions from the past week here. Feeling motivated to get uploading? If you submit any images you think would be perfect candidates for our next ‘Pictures of the Week’ post, tweet the image refs to  with the hashtag #17³Ô¹ÏÔÚÏßPOTW and we’ll consider them for the feature.
