Welcome to the 8th edition of our pictures of the week blog series. This week we’ve had a fantastic variety of images submitted from emotional news coverage to mythical portraits which as always has made the job of choosing 5 to highlight super difficult…

Why we think this is great: This week, on 24th March 2018 a student-led demonstration against gun violence took place in Washington, D.C. and over 800 sibling events also took place throughout the United States and around the world. We received hundreds of fantastic, thought provoking images through to the live news feed during the day of the  demonstrations but this one really stood out to us. The composition of this shot is great, showing the sheer volume of protesters on the approach to the United States Capitol.

Why we think this is great:Â Healthy and environmentally friendly lifestyle choices are continuing trends in the stock photography industry. This image is harnessing the trend within an authentic lifestyle shot and we love it.

Why we think this is great: Creating a wildlife photograph that stands out from the crowd to capture and hold the attention of the viewer is a tricky task but through the use of  interesting composition this photographer has managed just that. By changing the depth of field to de-focus the zebra in the foreground , the photographer has cleverly framed the second zebra adding creativity and depth to the image.

Why we think this is great: The complimentary colours in this image from the dark green of the trees to the light turquoise of the water bring it to life.  is a Pantone colour trend for spring 2018 and the pops of the colour in this image are simply stunning.

Why we think this is great: Fantasy is set to be a big trend throughout this year and this image fits right in. Think mythical creatures, fairy tale landscapes and fantasy pop culture. Why not harness this trend in your stock photography? If you need further inspiration, we’ve got you covered.
