Want to get involved in World car free day? Here are some ideas for how you can get to work this Friday without setting foot in a car…

The average member of our UK team travels 11 miles to work each day, so we’ve come up with some alternative ways they can travel to work on World Car Free Day – got any better ideas? Let us know in the comments.

The obvious ones…

These three really go without explanation…hop on your bike, walk or make the most of all the different public transport options available…

The not-so-common ones…

4. Skateboarding

An often overlooked method of transport, skateboarding is both a speedy way to travel and a fun way to get some exercise!

5. Rollerskating or rollerblading

In true spirit of the phrase ‘get your skates on’, get your rollerskates or, if you’re feeling brave, your rollerblades and skate your way to work! Why not do the school run on your skates and get the kids involved?

6. Horse and cart

Forget your car and travel by literal horse power – hey, it’s good enough for the Queen! There aren’t many of these on the roads today but I’m sure you could hunt one down for one day only…

7. Paragliding

Perfect for anyone who lives in a particularly hilly area, paragliding not only helps with carbon emissions but it’s also a really fun way to travel!

8. Travel by jet pack

Now, this one might seem a bit far-fetched (and hasn’t strictly been invented yet). But, for the small investment of around £50,000, rumour has it that you’ll be able to soar over the traffic and fly your way to work! Now we just need to wait for them to go into circulation…
