You might have got the impression that stock photography is just a load of clichéd images that have been used hundreds of times before – and in the early days of stock you might have been right. But now, with the introduction of mobile photography, more affordable cameras, and a more diverse customer base, stock photography really does cover everything – from clichéd to creative.
Easter photography is the perfect example to show the struggle between clichéd and creative . There are plenty of clichés you could use for your Easter blog posts, social media campaigns or marketing emails, but choosing an image with a creative edge will have greater impact, it will feel less staged and more unique. To show you what we mean (and because it’s a little bit of fun), we’re going to give you both clichéd and creative options for three popular Easter themes – bunnies, eggs and Easter egg hunts.
1. Bunnies
Cliché – The furry bunny, a cute basket of Easter eggs with a perfectly tied bow, and the model looking straight at the camera give this image a classic Easter feel.

Creative – Using bunny ears instead of a real bunny, colourful mismatched eggs, and the model in a more natural pose against a textured background, gives this image a creative edge.

2. Eggs
Cliché – The candy coloured eggs, perfectly positioned toy bunny and immaculate tulips give this image a studio feel.

Creative – Using real eggs that are all different shapes and sizes, a darker background, and a raw egg still portray the idea of Easter but in a much more creative way.

3. Easter egg hunt
Cliché – Perfect grass, well lit, cute child – this image has everything you expect from an image of an Easter egg hunt.

Creative –Â The soft colours and focus, natural looking scenery and model’s pose all add an ethereal and creative dimension to this image.
