Can you share some key highlights from your career journey that led you to your current role as a Business Development Manager at 17³Ô¹ÏÔÚÏß?
Working for Terraquest as a BDM, I networked with government agencies, top universities and blue chip organisations.
A key highlight that led me to 17³Ô¹ÏÔÚÏß was the creation of a cocktail brand that I ran and owned: Green Goblin Potion. At its peak, the cocktail was stocked in 30 outlets throughout England. I ran all aspects of the business, but particularly excelled in growing the business, locating retailers and negotiating with them.
What strategies have you found most effective in expanding 17³Ô¹ÏÔÚÏß’s client base and business opportunities?
Connecting via LinkedIn, marketing campaigns and good old cold calling.
How do you stay updated on industry trends and changes in the stock photography and visual content market?
Twitter, LinkedIn and online blogs.
I am always taking note of industry statistic trends to stay ahead of the curve and plan my outreach.
How do you assess market opportunities and prioritise them when developing business strategies for 17³Ô¹ÏÔÚÏß?
I access them via the time frame, the scale of the opportunity and the potential success. Through these variables, I will then prioritise the opportunity accordingly.
What role does data analysis and market research play in your approach to business development at 17³Ô¹ÏÔÚÏß?
This allows me to identify trends which may be geographical, along with understanding the market and what my clients may require. I am always taking note of industry statistic trend to stay ahead of the curve and plan my outreach.
Could you share any lessons learned from past experiences that have shaped your approach to business development in the visual content industry?
Hard work and determination while at Terraquest. I onboarded Oxford University as a client for the service we provided, and it took 9 months+, but it was a successful acquisition.
What initially attracted you to a career in business development and the visual content industry?
I always had a knack for sales and negotiation: I viewed the visual content industry as a new challenge, along with it also being an interesting industry to be a part of.
How do your personal interests and passions align with your role at 17³Ô¹ÏÔÚÏß as a Business Development Manager?
I am very spontaneous, enjoy modern and traditional art, and I have a strong appreciation for imagery. Plus, I’m a keen amateur videographer, which is so great with the advancements in mobile technology.
Can you share some personal values or principles that guide your approach to building and maintaining business relationships?
I always believe in being honest and transparent, while being committed to any project that I am involved with. At the end of the day, I ensure that I meet the parameters and meet expectations. Always being friendly, polite, and sharing my personality are also important factors.
I choose not to take anything personally and as I am driven to achieve, I just keep going.
What do you find most rewarding about your work at 17³Ô¹ÏÔÚÏß on a personal level?
When I work with a client and see the image on a national campaign – that warm feeling inside knowing you played your part.
How do you balance your professional responsibilities with your personal life and interests?
I do so by planning my day. I’m in the gym at 5am in the morning, then home for breakfast and ready to attack the day which I have planned. That way, when I’m finished, I switch off and don’t worry as everything has been taken care of. I enjoy sports, hiking, the gym and watching live sports. Another big interest of mine is travelling – visiting new locations both home and abroad. Also, I am a bit of an adrenaline junkie.
What are some personal goals or aspirations you have related to your career in business development at 17³Ô¹ÏÔÚÏß?
My personal aspirations are to grow my area and increase brand awareness, while still providing an exemplary service.
How do you stay motivated and inspired in your role, especially when facing challenges or setbacks?
I choose not to take anything personal and as I am driven to achieve, I just keep going. I believe this mentality was instilled in me from a young age, as I hail from a competitive family and where success is paramount.
